thanks a lot for the info chris!
even though the product seemed well designed and its future development very
promising my company never really paid much attention to shout3d due to its
lack of hardware acceleration support (being limited to a mere 300x200
applet window size because of bad performance using higher resolution is
unacceptable for the product we're developing). i'm downloading their latest
release as I type and i'll let you know the results after my first tests...
thx again,
scott.

Subject: [www-vrml] Shout3D 2.0 with OpenGL acceleration is out!!
Hey Guys!
Check this out ! Shout3D 2.0 just got released last Thursday!
And it now has OpenGL acceleration support (beta 1 only,
released as a separate add-on to Shout3D)!
See http://www/shout3d.com
I played a little with it this week-end and it rocks !
The rendering quality using OpenGL is very close to
the quality in software and I was quite amazed
to see my old TNT card render cubic reflection maps
and panoramas as well as its big sister the GeForce ;-O!!
(How did they do that???).
The installation process for the OpenGL add-on was
extremely simple (completely web based and automated,
the only thing I had to do was click on YES when I was
asked to trust Eyematic Inc. and it worked right off
the bat ;)!!) and it fits in less than 73KB(plus the class
files needed for your applet...)!
Chris.
