Hello,

We have a new Dell Dimension 4100 workstation with Windows 2000 Professional
and ATI Radeon DDR card with 32 MB memory. We get very strange results with
this combination when we are using our application that uses Java3D for
visualization. You can see in the attached bitmaps what I'm talking about.
There is a building whose walls should all be of the same color, but some
walls are black. When I change the appearance of the walls so that they have
the same color, but they are 50% transparent, the same walls become
transparent, but they are still black. If I don't use shading, the walls
have the correct color. The attached bitmaps describe the situation. There
is also a bitmap about the properties of the ATI card.

We have tried various versions of Java3D (opengl, directx, and various beta
levels), but nothing seems to help. This doesn't appear on any other
computer so we have concluded that the problem is in the card. Why I'm
posting this here is to ask if anybody has ever experienced anything similar
and if anybody could have an idea what can be wrong with the card.
