I agree.  It would be nice to have only one version of the SDK and RT lib.

The installation could install one or both libraries at the installer's
discretion.  Then a properties file could be used to define which is
"active."  This might even open up possibilities of being able to select
OpenGL or DirectX within each individual app.  I've heard rumors of the
Real3D library (Lockheed-Martin) allowing their testers to switch between
libraries on-the-fly.
