A college of mine came up lately with a quite interesting question.

He wonders if it's possible to cut the scenegraph from the OpenGL/DirectX
render below. As he's developing a RTRT he's not interested in the
underlying render process itself but rather only about the things above.

Is there a certain point in the API where all the stuff is bundled and
send down to the native APIs? At the moment I can't think of a single
point except maybe the Canvas3D.

Any thoughts?
