The same has happened to me sometimes :-( I thought it has something to
do with my system (650 Mhz Athlon, 256 MB, Geforce 256, Windows 2000,
newest Java and Java3D plug-ins) but it seems there is something wrong
either in Java3D or in our applet. There should be no JavaScripts in
our webpage so the problem can't be caused by Javascripts...
I agree that the first impression is really important when new users
try Java3D. One thing that is really difficult for "normal" users is
the installation of plugins. Does someone know when Sun will release
automatic installer for Java3D? It would be much easier if both JRE 1.3
and Java3D would be installed automatically if user doesn't have them
installed in his/her computer.
I know that automatic installation works already with JRE but it is
not enough if Java3D must be installed manually. Actually it is
even more confusing for the user if JRE is installed automatically
and the user must install Java3D plug-in manually.
I'll start hunting for bugs in our applet and try to reduce
loading times of the demos...
