We feel Java3D is GOOD for geometry modeling. Our
company is also in the CAD/CAM/CAE area, creating an
entirely web-centric, pure Java CAD/CAE platform. We
have puttogether a CAD/CAE platform within a
remarkably short time by simply using the
platform-independent Java and Java3D APIs. There are
bugs in Java3D just like any other evolving APIs, but
that has not deterred us from using Java3D
effectively. If you use Java3D with some understanding
of core geometry issues needed for CAD/CAE area, there
is a lot to gain from it.

Whenever we came across probelems with Java3D on
specific issues, we are able to find help from the
community, or from the Java3D developers. With a
little more performance improvement in rendering, we
don't see any reason why Java3D should become a
defacto CAD/CAM/CAE graphics APIs in this networked
economy.

Thanks.
