Hi all, I would like to announce the official beginning of a community based development effort that aims to create MCNP visualization tools. All code will be freely available under the open source LGPL (GNU Lesser General Public License), and a project website has been established at SourceForge.net: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mcnp-viz-tools/ Here you can sign up for our mailing list, keep track of the latest news, and even volunteer to join our group of developers. We are currently in a pre-alpha planning stage and would be glad to hear your comments. Our first task will be to develop code to parse the PTRAC output file and display partical tracks using Java3D. As such, we are hoping that volunteers will submit example PTRAC files that have been annotated to explain what each feature of the file means. This will hopefully provide a good variety of files to test our code against in the future. You may submit files by email or by anonymous ftp through a link shown on the project website above. Subscribers to the Java3D list-server who wish to learn more about MCNP can browse this primer: http://www-xdiv.lanl.gov/XCI/PROJECTS/MCNP/mcnp-manual4c/chapter1.pdf If you reply to this email for comment, then please include the mcnp-viz-tools list-server in your list of addresses: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks, Todd Jenkins (also posted to the MCNP list-server) =========================================================================== To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include in the body of the message "signoff JAVA3D-INTEREST".
