Hi all,

Help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I came across an answer about stereo support for PC's at
http://www.j3d.org/faq/stereo.html.

I am working for the University of Sussex, UK. helping to start a VR course.
We are looking at several hardware/software combinations, and I have started
to believe Java3D is perhaps the best API for us to teach. However, we feel
it is important that students can obtain stero vision at their individual
machine.

Each machine will potentially consist of W2K OS, Java3D (OpenGl version), a
pair of StereoEyes (lesser CrystalEyes), possibly a Magellan SpacePuck, and
for the graphics card, a Gladiac 920 GeForce3 (they have an in-built Intel
Chipset with OpenGl support but this is not powerful enough, only 4mb Ram!).

I was wondering if you have any ideas on whether stereo capability would be
possible using the StereoEyes, Java3 (OpenGL) and a GeForce3 GPU?

If I am right, in conversations with Elsa, they do not offer OpenGL drivers
for this card (you have to pay the extra, and but the Gloria III!), hence no
direct harware support, though SteroGraphics are writing w2K drivers hence
OpenGL S/W support (using some form of dongle between the card, monitor and
glasses).

Any suggestions at all would be great, as stereo support and Windows 2000 is
becoming a major issue for us.

Thanks for everyone's help so far, and in the future,

Sky Rumsey
