Hi,
I just began to learn 3D and Java3D graphics, I was so scared because I
have so many baby
questions to ask. Fortunately I found this user group and joined the
group to ask for help.
I would appreciate if someone could answer my following questions. I
really need to know
their answers before I delve into this field.
(1) Comparing a 3D application written in Java with those written in
C/C++ with OpenGL
libraries, what is an approximate time difference on average?
(2) What kind of new books are available on Java 3D? I got a book
entitled "Ready-to-Run
Java 3D" by Kirk Brown and Daniel Petersen, I just finished the 3rd
chapter called
"Meet the Java 3D API." It is a very good reference. However, I
have not found
any other book in Barneys Noble. Could you list some? The newer,
the better.
(3) If my application of applet involves both 2D and 3D object, should
I use AWT to
create the 2D parts? Or should I use the 3D objects and
degenerate them into
2D? Should I do Swing with 3D? How about mixing lightweight and
heavyweight
visual objects together? My guess is not.
I would appreciate if you could help me to solve my baby questions.
Sincerely,
Lee Zhou
