I know that java3d team is now working hard on 1.3 release, which seems
to be quite a big improvement compared to 1.2, both performance and
feature wise. But could you share some light on how future of java3d
will look like ? I'm not talking now about technical detail (pluggable
occluders, pixels shaders etc) but about politics.

AFAIK some funding was cut off. And next version of java3d (not bugfix,
but something really different) is not a small undertaking. What is a
probable future of java3d ? Small sun team making bugfixes and waiting
for world economy to recover (and opengl2.0 to appear) ? Multi-company
development ? Some kind of open-but-controlled coding ? GPLing java3d
and forgetting about having a single standard ?

If we are on the subject - do you think that java3d source will ever be
available for 'masses' ? I'm not talking about giving it away - just
being able to browse/play with it.
