IDEs, editors, and coding styles are things that a developer takes very
personally. It is next to impossible to tell someone who likes their own tool
or their own style that there is a better option.

Having said that, I'll tell you that TextPad is great! It's only about $25, and
it does way more than you would expect for a quick, light editing environment.
It has all the features and conveniences that most people would expect. It
starts quickly, it's nimble, and it's easy to configure.

The only thing I haven't figured out, is how to save more than one set of
configurations (ie, hot key commands for compiling or running) when you work on
more than one project at a time. It really needs a project file that saves that
stuff based on the particular project. Most heavier IDEs will have this
feature.
