Jacob Marner, you've written something that is __ NOT __ true about Java ...
You can use Java 1.2, Java3d & the Sun VRML Loaders for Web Animations ... | Mini FAQ | | Can I use 6DX for Java in a Java applet? | | No you cannot. 6DX for Java runs only in Java application. | | This is mostly due to the fact that 6DX for Java needs certain | Java 1.2 features and all browsers I know (including MS IE 5.5) | only supports Java 1.1. | http://www.rolemaker.dk/JWindows/6DX/index.htm That's _ NOT _ true. Java 1.2 works in browser, I do it every day. You can do Java 1.2 Applets in a Web Browser with Java3d, with VRML and be portable: Java Games with Java3d & the Sun VRML Loaders ---------------------------------------------- http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/games_with_java3d.html http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/java3d_and_vrml.html | To be allowed to distribute applications or games made with | 6DX you must purchase a full license. A license comes at | US$195 per project programmer, at US$1500 for a license | for all programmers in the same company at the same | geographical location, or at US$3500 | http://www.eldermage.com/6dx_introduction.htm Jacob, more portable, more economical solutions exist with Java. That solution will fail on Linux, Solaris, and high end graphics Unix workstations from Sun, IBM, HP & SGI. Java is portable, your expensive solution is not. Java Games with Java3d & the Sun VRML Loaders ---------------------------------------------- http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/games_with_java3d.html http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/java3d_and_vrml.html | Note: Please note that you cannot use 6DX to make | Java applets for use in popular browsers, since | we require the use of the Java 2 platform. | | Contemporary browsers only support Java v1.1. | | The Java interface is intended for use outside browsers. | http://www.eldermage.com/6dx_introduction.htm I use Mozilla 0.9.8 on Linux and my Java applets work fine in the browser. What you wrote is not true. Your solution is a 'Windows Only' solution that will fail on Linux and platforms used by increasing numbers of computer animation professionals. | | Quit posting irrelevant mails to all sorts of forums. | | Understand that we don't care. Go away. | You really annoy a lot of people. | | And we hate you for repeatedly accusing people | of lying. | | Don't reply to this message. Just stay away. | | Jacob Marner [ wrote today ] | Hmm, I gave answers to two questions in one message. The questions were about Sun's Fly Through Demo and the NCSA VRML Loaders, I've used both, and I answered both questions, as you can see: http://swjscmail1.java.sun.com/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0202&L=java3d-interest&P=47349 http://archives.java.sun.com/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0202&L=java3d-interest&P=46625 http://archives.java.sun.com/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0202&L=java3d-interest&P=46625 An Honest full disclosure from you would include that you're trying to sell a prodcut that fails to run in a browser as 'proper' ( portable ) Java can, which I pointed out, which could be more distressing to you then simply a long post or long sentences or sentences that end like this ... You're not honest on your web site, you're not honest in your e-mail to me and you're upset. Try the truth: it will set you free. Try writing portable Java: it will set you free. Of course it upsets you when someone honestly writes you can run Java3d in a browser when you're trying to __ SELL __ a product with a competing solution that CANNOT. And to accuse some of "spamming" when you're trying to sell ( for a rather high price ) something that can be done better with Portable Java ... To accuse someone of spamming when the problem is of your own making is childish, unprofessional, and ineffective (and not uncommon). Try the truth, try portable Java. Do both, and you'll have portable code & happiness. You've done neither: naturally you're upset. That's your problem, and you can fix it. Good Luck. -- Paul, Java Developer & Web Animator ----------------------------------------------------- "Imaging the Imagined: Modeling with Math & a Keyboard" The complaint of spamming was in reply to this post: | | VRML 3d Multi-User Networked Worlds | ----------------------------------- | - Free Source Available: Java, naturally. | -- ( Free Java Source helps Newbies & Old Pros ... ) | | http://www.geometrek.com/products/deepmatrix.html http://croftsoft.com/portfolio/tag3d/ ( Java3d ) http://www.cs.vu.nl/~eliens/online/%40share/archive/scripties/fedozzi/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Programming/Languages/Java/Virtual_Worlds/ | http://swjscmail1.java.sun.com/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0112&L=java3d-interest&P=43928 =========================================================================== To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include in the body of the message "signoff JAVA3D-INTEREST".
