I had the same problem... Windows XP and the .lax InstallAnywhere in Java3D 1.3.1. InstallAnywhere works for other installs but not Java3D. I fixed it like this: Rename the Java3D install .exe to .zip and unzip it with winzip or something similar. Go into the Windows directory and edit the .lax file. (I'm going from memory here because my power supply died on that maching last night) Find the line that has "MSJ" which I assume stands for microsoft java... change that to JRE, Click on the install program in the same dir as the .lax file and it should fire right up with the new blue balls and the wrench.... can't say I would have picked that image. =)
