I think that the standard pattern for this is to write your own class - depending on the details of your model, you may be able to extend an Interpolator, or you may have to extend directly from Behavior. In any case your new class implements the Listener interface for the user interactions you want. You set wakeup conditions for your required rendering schedule OR the interaction event. In processStimulus(), you pick apart the criterion and respond accordingly.
