Hi!
I am currently working on my thesis for my University Diploma, but I
still have yet to choose a topic. I have narrowed my interest to
Java3D, but have not yet determined an interesting and good topic.
Could everyone please forward suggestions???

Potential topics:
1) My professor first wanted me to design a form where the user fills
out information about objects (type, coordinates, colors, material,
etc.). Those objects will be displayed in a canvas using J3D. But there
already exists a thesis in which a J3D editor was built (albeit simpler
than I would design it). The problem with this idea is that so many
demos exist for this, its not unique, and isn't that interesting
because its pretty simple. Now, dealing with collision or other
aspects might be interesting, but just with this as an idea isn't
enough. Maybe one of your suggestions can help me to extend this idea
to something interesting, and maybe even practical. Also, my thesis
would be too similiar to the other one and that I would not have much
theory to write about.

2) Another suggestion from my professor was to create a J3D world and
put a lot of interaction in it (navigation, links, modification of the
objects). But I wanted to do at least the translation, zoom and
rotating anyway.

My professor is open for suggestions. My problem is that while I am in
my final semester at University, I am a Java/J3D beginner and don't
know all the possibilities of J3D yet.

I have a timeframe of 4 months to complete my thesis.

Any ideas would be appreciated!!! No matter how strange they might
sound! I'm looking for something practical, that I could possibly
release to the Java3D community afterwards, either as a tool or as a
learning implement. But that's not that important. Most important is
to be interested in what I am doing. I am really interested in 3D, but
am stumped when trying to think of a good topic.

Please help!
Katja
