I would appreciate some help/advice in selecting new PC and IDE for my project. I am currently running
J3D 1.2 and JRE 1.3.1, on 500 MHz / 256 MB RAM PC under NT 4.0 WS. As it is getting really slow to render/
run more elaborate environments I  am looking at getting new PC, and selecting good IDE for the J3D. In particular
am interested to hear if anybody had good experience with LINUX, and in which configuration, especially for the IDE
    selected. So in a nutshell:

OS:        LINUX, win 2000 or XP ?   I noticed some issues with video cards under LINUX ...
        IDE?      ??

As I am very familiar with general UNIX administration, I would go with LINUX if there are no significant issues with that
    approach.

I checked FAQs but could find specifics on recommendations of this kind, other than some problems with video cards.

    Thanks!
