jdk releases due to SunOne 2002 conference paper, following eachother after
six month:

kestrel = 1.3 (released)
cricket = 1.3.1 (released)
merlin = 1.4 (released)
hopper = 1.4.1 (planned for later this year)
mantis = 1.4.2 (planned for 2003)
tiger = 1.5 (planned for 2003)
