The problem is manufacturers want to get the 'jump' on their rivals by trying to force their 'standards' out, and fool people into thinking everyone will adopt them. Everyone buys their cards, the other vendors are upset, and make their own super cool feature (TM) and want in on the action. I am disappointed with NVIDIA for not channelling this work into something that I would personally use. TO support something which is negatively impacting the industry isn't a good idea. Steer clear and hope that manufacturers realise that common standards is inevitable, even though it means they have to compete on a more level playing ground. I hope we could boycot this new idea and show NVIDIA that we don't like to play games, when it comes to playing games... as it were... Sarcasm aside, who would seriously want to develop for something like this? I couldn't see myself ever developing for something which wasn't solid and accepted. The idea that another vendor will make something newer and better, and incompatible, is too risky (and likely).
