I finally finished my senior thesis! My senior project was to create a GIS simulation application.
Abstract GeoSim is an advanced scientific simulation system. Using the real-time rendering capability of Java 3D it is possible to form a graphical representation of elevation data put out by the USGS in the form of 1 Arc second DEM files. Its dual purpose is to allow for the simulation of possible scenarios, given certain environmental variables such as the increase of sea level due to the melting of the polar ice caps. This application will help students and scientists alike visualize and manipulate DEM data. This application is released to the public as Open Source under the GNU GPL license in the hope that it may inspire, assist and promote such applications of technology in aiding the physical sciences.
