I'd like to announce the M5 release of Xj3D. In this release we have
worked to make Xj3D align with the current draft X3D specification.
Other improvements include better texture handling(GIF support, URL
cacheing, better rescaling) , some new nodes like StaticGroup,
LoadSensor and VisibilitySensor. We've also implemented an experimental
overlay system. For Java3D loader users we have added the ability to
specify capability bits. We've also started a OpenGL renderer project
thats included with this release, but it will require a fair bit more
work before its ready for production use.

You can download the latest version here:

http://www.web3d.org/TaskGroups/source/xj3d.html#use

If your interested in what nodes/language concepts are implemented you
can see our conformance status here: http://www.xj3d.org/status.html

Right now we could use a fair bit of conformance testing. If you have
some cycles to spare for testing please contact me and I'll coordinate
people's efforts. Thanks to James Harney for submitting a large batch
of testing results.

During Siggraph we will be wandering around with a laptop showing the
latest features of Xj3D. Feel free to grab us(Justin Couch is the
easiest with bright blue hair) for a demo.
