In particular, we see it when we wholesale change scenegraphs. Once, when enquired about this with the j3d team they suggested something along the lines of the ViewPlatform not being connected to the scene or some such thing (it was a while ago and my memory is fuzzy), which didn't match what we were doing and nothing much further happened.
