Tammy,

Thanks for the helpful information. Is there a good list of graphic cards that are
acceptable for Java 3D OpenGL? I have seen one at http://www.glsetup.com/ but the web
site is not working now.

John

I had the opposite situation - installed Java 3D DirectX but the machine
didn't have the MS DirectX dlls, this is what I got
(Embedded image moved to file: pic13985.pcx)

On a different install experiment I did (installed Java 3D OpenGL) on an
old graphics card from 1996, when I ran HelloUniverse (from J3D example)
and a couple other 'test if your install works' applets I received no java
exception on the JPI but see only a blank screen. Same blank screen when I
ran thej appletview or just plain run the class file.

So I say the succesful install requies not only the right sequence of
install (JDK/JRE install, J3D extension SDK/JRE Install, DirectX or OpenGL
Install, etc) you also need to have a good graphics card that can handle
the low level APIs.

OpenGL, what happens? Also, what happens if a machine has an old video card
from 1995?
