Hello,
I use Spazz3D. It is inexpensive when licensed and fully
functional for 30 days of trial. Get the latest drivers for your
graphics card. This solves almost all the problems reported with Spazz
and these problems may be out of Keith Victors hands. Spazz also has a
mailing list which is very useful but gets a few annoying spams due to
yahoo.
Check the web3d consortium web site for free polygon reduction
tools. However, I believe that Spazz can attempt to produce small
uncompressed files and it will export to a compressed format. One of
the Spazz versions may be tailored to compression. Check with the
mailing list.
On the Mac, you can use Spazz3d under Virtual PC 5. Also, on the
Mac, there is a free 3-D modeler called Meshworks designed for
VRML.
Amapi is probably the inexpensive file translator for VRML people
that is cross platform. It is also a mid to high end 3-D modeler that
just happens to translate between a large number of file
formats.

Hi,
Does anyone know of FREE/INEXPENSIVE VRML Editors...where you can modify VRML objects. I know some/most CAD programs
can export into VRML but how about once you have a VRML and you'd like to edit it.
Also, has anyone found any polygon reduction programs that actually work and are also FREE??? ...and that work with VRML files?
I know of one like "Rational Reducer" but it is very expensive...the problem I have is that I have the space station models in VRML
which have a lot of polygons and are very detailed....this (I believe) slows down my scene...so I'd like to reduce them and have better
animations in my code.
thanks,
