For animating VRML ... the old Sun VRML Loaders often WORK

... on files where the 'new' Xj3d VRML Loaders fail ...

people should know know the facts
 and
use what's best for their appliction.

Right, but what works *** BEST *** ~~~ NOW ~~~
 ----------------------------------------------

and what do you do if your VRML doesn't work on
 the 'new' Loaders ...

Using the 'old' reliable browsers is an option

___ THAT WORKS ___ on many files
___ that FAIL ____ with the 'new' Loaders.

So if you want to do something ___ TODAY ___
the 'new' loaders might best be left to ripen a little.

 | Subject: Load VRML interpolators [ for animation ] ??
 |
 |
 | I'd like to create an animated scene in 3DS Max
 | and to load it with a VRML loader in Java3D.
 |
 | But in the scene the loader returns,
 | there is no behavior nodes and no interpolator nodes !
 |
 | Is there any way to load animations from any 3D file format ?

  Yes, certainly.
  --------------

You can do that with VRML, Java3d & the Sun VRML Loaders.

You can find the answer to lots of your questions in the
 Sun Java3d-interest list archives:

  http://archives.java.sun.com/cgi-bin/wa?S1=java3d-interest

I just searched it and found your answer ( written by me ;^) ):

"3dsmax ( 3d Studio Max ) exports to VRML for Web Animation"

You can animate VRML on the Web in 3d ...

 - H-Anim Avatars
 - with Sound, Billboard Nodes and other VRML features.
 - with Gesture Animations activated by Touch Sensors
 - with image Textures.
 - run it on the web in Netscape, Mozilla,
   or Microsoft Internet Explorer
 - run it on Windows & Linux
 - run it as a stand alone application
 - load local & remote ( web ) files (for remote run as application)
 - in a safe, secure, non-privacy invading environment with
 ___ free software __
 - load files specified from the command line, or interactive file box
 - read, write and render VRML files.
 - with the modern, object-oriented-programming & portability of Java.
 - with High School programming skills

... with Java3d and the Sun VRML Loaders.

The Sun VRML Loaders and Xj3D VRML Loaders are different.

 Neither is spec compliant.

The Xj3d VRML Loaders may lack some of the capabilities listed above.

No, No, No, No, No, No, No, but __ Thank You __ for trying.
  --------------------------

I guess the " Couch - Beitler Flame War " continues.

The Truth is with my code I can -- as I have said --

animate VRML based H-Anim Avatars with Gesture Animations
triggered by mouse events on VRML Sensors
in Netscape, Mozilla, and Micosoft Internet Explorer
and access both local files from the command line or
file dialog pop up box, and access remote ( web ) data files,
reading, rendering, and writting VRML with the Sun VRML Loaders.

If you've tried and failed, I'm sorry.

Neither the old VRML Loaders from Sun nor your new ones
are fully spec compliant is my understanding, and
I have not, and will not, claim the Sun VRML Loaders
are fully spec compliant --- unless they are --
and they are not fully spec compliant.

The Prentice Hall book by Aaron Walsh with Justin Couch
falsely and I believe fraudulently leaves the impresssion
the Sun VRML Loaders cannot be used to animate the VRML
based Web3d.org H-Anim Avatars: that is known to be false.

The U.S. NIST Labs demonstrate obsolete and inferior methods
of web based VRML animation and the NIST staff has hindered
the advancement of Web based VRML Animation with Java:

Right, so you can have VRML animation in a browser
----- without ---- a plug-in, and have it work on
Windows, Linux, the Macintosh .. the Web ...

but you can also animate VRML with Java3d in a browser.
