They're going with a 1/2 price e-book on-line instead.

I did like the idea of free online books though,
buying the book is better is better and cheaper
then trying to print it out yourself anyway.

Selman's whole books was on-line as standard web pages
but it was removed though the __ source code __ examples
are still available for free download alone with
two sample chapters ( #1 & 13: Intro & Behavoiors ).

...

A great way to get started with Java3d is using
the VRML and the Sun VRML Loaders ...

Selman's book has two examples of this in his book
which you can see on-line including the interactive
mouse Picking Demo and the Sun Fly Through Demo
which is shown in the first chapter of his book
which is available in PDF, and you can see examples
of both the Sun Fly Through Demo and Selman's
VRML display with mouse Picking on the
"games with java3d" web page below which has
links to the manning site and the Sun Demo:

Java3d Loading & Rendering VRML ( Fly Through & Pick )

Here you can see illustrations of Java3d in action
by Nasa, Me, and others including a VRML animation
of our solar system done in VRML animated with
Shout3d Java 1.1 engine, and the VRML animation
works with Java3d with the Sun VRML Loaders both
in a web page and as a stand alone application.

Disclaimers:

I don't own, represent, have stock in, or have a finacial intereset
in this book ... and it's author doesn't even like me : ^ (

I do like and use animate VRML with Java3d
using the Sun VRML Loaders and animate
VRML with Java without Java3d also.
