You forgot the dot in your classpath. Java classloaders is looking for
classes *only* in the classpath, so if the current folder is not included in
the classpath, it won't find anything.

Also, the classpath setting you have in your example bellow is wrong. Java
classloaders don't use wild cards.

Try the following command: java -classpath . Testhandler

 Dear all:
after setting my classpath correctly, the java system cannot find my source
class file, even though it located right in the proteome folder.
check the messages below:

C:\brobbwork\proteome>set classpath=JAVA_HOME\jre\lib\ext\j3d*.jar

C:\brobbwork\proteome>java Testhandler
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Testhandler

any Ideas ?
