Movies are made with Java3d with the Sun JMF & Sun VRML Loaders --------------------------- and the NCSA screen capture tool
and important work has been done supported in part by the US tax payers through the US NIST & US NSF including Finger Spelling for the Deaf animations using Web3d.org's VRML based H-Anim Avatars which can and have been animated with finger spelling animations in a browser on Windows and Linux with Java3d with VRML and the Sun VRML Loaders, and those animtions can be and have been saved and recorded as movie animation files ( .mov, etc. ).
Render a Roler Coaster Ride with the camera moving in the car ---------------------------- has been done, it's easy with Java & VRML.

Florin, it has been done and is in the Java3d-interest list archives ------- ---------------- ( see links above and below )
With the Sun VRML Loaders and the Sun Java Media Framework ( JMF ) and the NCSA frame capture tool you can
read, render, record VRML animation files and save the results -------------------- as movie ananimations in ( .mov etc. ).
Some people have made false and fraudulent to the contrary including Justin Couch in the "Couch - Beitler Flame War", Aaron Walsh, and the unreliable and discredited publisher Prentice-Hall and Justin's company Yumetech, and now apparently you too Florin ;^(
The important and growing field of web animation with modern and portable tools such as Java and VRML, and the creation, recording, storage, distribution, steaming, and playing of animation on portable and varied devices is growing with tax payer supported research from the NIST, NSF, and other US Federal resources and it works well with Java3d with VRML using the Sun VRML Loaders and the Java JMF.

Artur Matos wrote to java3d-interest list: | | Hi to all, | | Sorry if this is a newbie question. | | I would like to ask the experts on this | list on the best way for generating animation files | (like MPG or AVI) from Java3D. | | I am aware of the NCSA java3D package that allows | to save image frames, but I would like to find a | solution that would allow me to post edit the generated | animation (like changing the camera position) before | creating an AVI/MPG file. | | Something like a editable animation format with | the geometry info, that I could load into a scene editor | and further tweak the animation and generate an MPG file | afterwards. Yes, it can be done using the NCSA utility. Yes, it's been done, I've done it with the NCSA utility.
Yes, the Java Media Framework lets you edit videos but it's ---- limited to cutting frame in our out, the changing of the view position would have to be done within the Java3d part and not after it is complete but using VRML you can create, store, play, modifiy, play the modified animations at will.
