do you call the method

JPopupMenu.setLightWeightPopupEnabled(false);

before you create the objects of  your menues and dialogs?

this was my problem first, too.

you can also say to a specific component that it should be heavyweight when you call 
it right before the object creation.

but always before the creation of the lightweight components
