  I'm currently at work so I can't check this theory. But it looks as
though you are not setting the view position up, which means you will be
viewing from 0,0,0. If the model is centred at 0,0,0 this means you will
be looking out from inside the model. It could be that the front clip
distance is beyond the outside edge of the model, or that the model is
single sided, either way you won't see anything. Try moving the view to
say 0,0,-20. You'll also need to set you back clip distance as the
default is 10 (iirc), set it to say 300, that should be more than enough
for testing.
