Have Java3D installed and at least mostly operational. As test code I have XJ3D in place, and I can get the XJ3D browser to run and show me a VRML file, but it complains much about not being able to find certain cursor resources etc.
Interesting. We've not done much MacOS work with Xj3D as we don't have a Mac in the office. The little that we do is when we borrow a friend's machine for an hour or two to try something out. To help sort through the issues, can you send me a private email with some more details about which specific part of Xj3D you are using (eg, Xj3DBrowser, loader, DIYBrowser etc).
Also, I would recommend that any further questions for Xj3D not be sent to the Java3D list (some people tend to get a bit offended that it is "non-java3d talk") and either contact us directly or make use of the Web3D's consortium source working group list: Pages are down right now with contact details due to a site revamp taking place, but basically send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and "subscribe source" as the body of the email (typical majordomo subscription process).
Actually Justin I feel rather certain that the problems I am seeing with the Xj3D browser (specifically, whatever it is that the Xj3D ''browser.sh'' runs) are symptomatic of my less-than-properly-installed Java3D kit. This is why I posted to this list and not elsewhere...
Sorry to hear that you don't have access to a mac to pursue work on the platform -- but I do. Also some years as a sysadmin maintaining developement and engineering simulation environments for some rather large concerns. I'm interested in helping, hint-hint...
I am quite determined to get this to work; I can see from what successes I have had to-date that it is a matter of some minor adjustment. I suspect that I need to tweak my classpath setting or the like; however I dont know where/how to approach this in an OSX context.
Any assistance from the list would be appreciated. Specifically, if there are any other mac users on the list who have this working, precisely where does the Java3d folder sit in your disk path? Have you had to make any changes to the java environment to make it aware of the Java3D extension? Any other tweaks?
What I'd really like to do is put together a short list of mac-specific (read OS/X specific) configuration points for getting Java3D working on the mac, a short mac-faq, if you will, so we can avoid threads like this in the future.
Thanks in advance!
Regards, James
