Xj3D.org is proud to announce the M9 release of the Xj3D Toolkit. The M9
release adds a native OpenGL renderer that is twice as fast as the
Java3D version, and consumes significantly less memory. It also adds
the following features:

• A Browser user interface: the end-user, standalone browser application
now has a more user-friendly interface.

• Unified Elumens and stereoscopic devices: developers no longer need to
create separate versions to handle different immersive devices.

• File Format Converter: a file converter is now included to convert
from .wrl (VRML 97) to X3D encodings. It can also make conversion
between files using different X3D encodings.

• Batching for textures using the Same URL: saves memory for worlds that
do not use DEF/USE for repeated textures.

• Improvements to the Scripting Authoring Interface (SAI).

• Java Webstart Support: you can now embed Xj3D onto a webpage for
auto-installation.
The M9 release also includes fixes to the PROTO and EXTERNPROTO
implementations.

You can download Xj3D at:

Please note that most users will need the full installer to use the new
OpenGL renderer. You must have JOGL 1.1Beta 2 or higher installed in
your lib/ext or use the full installer.
