Hello everyone,

My game StreamGlider (http://streamglider.net), which uses Java3D and
JavaSound, is now online via Webstart. The website contains screenshots,
play instructions, and specific tech. requirements. Available for Win,
Linux, and MacOS. Please enjoy the game, it could not have been made
without the huge amount of J3D knowledge brought by this community.

I'd like to hear from people with mostly recent hardware that can't get
the game to work. I've been especially diligent in that area, providing a
utility to help detect outdated graphic hardware so people don't waste
bandwith downloading the game for nothing. MacOS users will need to take a
leap of faith, my utility doesn't run on that OS because it needs J3D
1.3.2. The game itself is distributed with J3D-OpenGL 1.3.1.

People from javagaming.org (http://www.javagaming.org/cgi-
bin/JGNetForums/YaBB.cgi?
board=Announcements;action=display;num=1097441052) told me the game
doesn't run well on Nvidia GeForce2 cards, even though my requirements
checker tells them it does. This will probably happen for any graphics
driver reporting support for 3D textures even though it implements them in
software. So people with this card (or older) should probably abstain from
playing :).

The game was developed on a GeForce3, and runs smoothly on both WinXP and
Mandrake 10. I've yet to see it perform on Mac, but I'm crossing my
fingers.

Since 1.5 is needed for Windows, some of you may need to d/l it manually
from Sun, it's still not upgreadable thru Webstart yet.

No matter what your experiences are running the game, please post (or
email me) your gfx card/OS configurations, your feedback is extremely
valuable for me and other potential users.

Kind regards,
PEB
