Hi there,

I am currently trying to figure out which API to learn in order to
develop games together with a friend of mine.

I read a lot about Java3D and Xith3D. The latter seems to be the one
directed at game developes (though I could not figure out what makes
this API the superior choice for games other than its support for
shaders and having all the capability bits set in advance...)

What confused me during my research was that in various Documents about
Java and 3D in general I came across remarks about the Java3D-API not
being continued.

On the other hand there's an anouncement for the 1.4 version (probably
including shaders).

So, to cut a long sentence short, here's what I'd like to know:

- Will the Java3D-API be continued? Is it still being actively developed?
- Apart from shaders: what is the main reason for the Java3D-API not
being convenient for Game Development?

As far as I know, Xith3D wanted to resemble the Java3d scene graph as
much as possible, making it easy to even port existing code, but the
reason I am asking this is I just want to find out wether or not I could
just as well stick to Java3D

Thanks for your time

Murat Kayi
