[JAVA3D] VRML Material Swapping Question

I would like to make a group blink red for example and I've been trying to find a good solution to this. I.e. right now what I have is a choice node which turns on and off wrapping the group, this blinks the objects in or out of existence but i want them instead to blink red, sort of highlight.

What is the best way to do this?
