I don't see any association with the the change in the sliderValue and
the updating of the Transform3D.

Attached is a modified version of our HelloUniverse example that uses
a scrollbar to move geometry.

The difference is the adjustmentValueChanged() method now updates the
Transform3D object in the TransformGroup:

    public void adjustmentValueChanged(AdjustmentEvent e) {
        sliderVector.set(0.0f, (float)sb.getValue()/10.0f, 0.0f);
        sliderXform.setTranslation(sliderVector);
        sliderTrans.setTransform(sliderXform);
    }
