Hi Shawn,

I'm not working on a loader, but one way that you can load Flt
models is to convert them to VRML97 format, then use the VRML97
loader from the VRML-Java3D Working Group of theVRML Consortium at
http://www.vrml.org. Just click on "java3d & vrml" on the menu to
the right to find the download page. The converter for OpenFLT
format and other formats used by Performer can be found at
http://www.wareonearth.com/freesoft.html. It is called the "VRML 97
Generator for IRIS Performer" and is written by Glenn Waldron. It
only runs under IRIX 6.x. I have used this for my J3D viewer and it
works, though the models seem huge so there may be some inefficiencies
in the conversion. Could be I'm just expecting too much from my PC,
it is starved for RAM with 64Meg under NT 4.0.

This may not be a good long term solution, but it will get your
models in to J3D. If you find an actual loader for OpenFLT, please keep
me posted.

TT Yourself,
-Gary

Subject: [java3d] OpenFLT Loader

I know this is probably reaching but,
Is anyone out there working on a Java3d OpenFLT(Mulitgen) loader?
I know a little community down here that would love to use Java3d, if
only we could load our zillion Flight models.
