I have recently tried Java3d-directX - on win98 with a Viper550 card (NVIDIA
RIVA TNT).
Java3d-directX was almost twice the speed as the same app running with
Java3d-opengl.

Now I am in the process of setting up an NT4 machine (again with a Viper550
card).
It seems one has to use SP4 to get the DirectX drivers for NT4 - can you
confirm that ???
Have you tried it? Does it work?
Why did you say you are tied to Win98 till there is an OpenGL fix?

many thanks for any info

lucy
