Yes, the PGX24 graphics card works (at least one SE in my office runs
Java3D on an Ultra 5 with PGX24).

HOWEVER, the PGX24 isn't a 3D graphics card. Double buffering, Z-buffer
etc is done in software. Note that the underlying OpenGL implementation
exploits the Visual Instruction Set (VIS) built into UltraSPARC when
available. This accelerates many OpenGL functions by 2x - 8x over a
conventional software implementation. Performance still does not match
hardware acceleration, which is to be expected.

Since the Ultra 5 doesn't have a UPA slot, Creator3D or Elite3D cards
are not an option for that particular workstation model (Ultra 10 has
a UPA slot).
