The X3D Task Group is designing and implementing a next-generation
extensible 3D graphics specification, expressing the geometry and
behavior capabilities of the VRML 97 using the Extensible Markup
Language (XML).

The X3D contributors been very busy during the past ten weeks.
Background information, meeting minutes, contributions and plans
are all openly available at
        http://www.web3D.org -> Task & Working Groups -> X3D

We're ready (and eager!) for a comprehensive public review. We're looking
for constructive criticism, midcourse corrections and positive endorsements
of the directions we are pursuing.

If you wish to provide comments, please subscribe to the x3d-reviewers list.
All comments are welcome. Mail list instructions are in the X3D charter
(best accessed via the page set above) or directly accessed at
http://www.web3d.org/TaskGroups/x3d/X3dTaskGroupCharter.html#Mail

We plan to deliver a draft X3D design prior to SIGGRAPH, and also demonstrate
various parts of X3D technology at the Web3D Roundup, SIGGRAPH 99, during the
evening of Wednesday August 11, http://www.web3dRoundup.org

We meet the first Friday of each month. Our next meeting is Friday July 2
in Menlo Park. If anyone is planning to contribute a nodeset extension
proposal or has other comments for consideration in the draft design,
please post prior to that date.

X3D is moving quickly and already stimulating great results.
Thanks for considering how you might provide review comments
so that X3D might succeed from everybody's perspectives.

all the best, Don
