Hi Ralph,
there are some known problems combining Swing and java3D. Especially
JPopupMenu doesn't work corrctly. The reason is Canvas3D is a heavyWeight
class and Swing classes are mostly lightWeight. See also at
http://tintoy.ncsa.uiuc.edu/~srp/java3d/.
Putting Canvas3D into JFrame or JPanel should run without any problems...
I've done the former one and it's running pretty good.
