Look at the java command line option -mx or -Xmx. Running your app with the
command line: 'java -mx128m appname' would let your app consume up to 128
megabytes of memory.

Subject: [JAVA3D] Memory Allocation
I have heard that it is possible to alter the amount of space on the heap
that the java interpreter is
allocated. Is this true and if so how do you do it?
The reason I ask is that I'm attempt to manipulate a number of jpg texture
maps and introducing them
to my program (which was running fine with plain colours) gives me a
run-time out of memory exception.
I have looked through my code and can't see anywhere where I am obviously
consuming a huge amount of memory.
Any help would be much appreciated.
