Following Simon Fischer's advice (thank you), I tried setting J3D_FULLSCREEN=TRUE with the DirectX version of Java 3D. My application still comes up in a window, rather than full screen. Is there something else I have to do? What happens to frames and other GUI components in my application if the 3D is full screen?
 
The reason I would like to run in full screen mode is that my 3D card (a Voodoo2) only works for full screen 3D.
