Job Title:* IDC Operations Engineer* Location - NYC, NY Duration - 6 months + Job Description Day to day responsibilities include server/storage/network hardware ordering and inventory, cage management, provisioning, backups and oversight of servers in a heterogeneous Windows/Unix environment, monitoring of system resources, TCP/IP network troubleshooting, and system documentation. Candidates will be expected to troubleshoot issues over the phone, provide customer support to internal users, and escalate issues via change management and predefined procedures. *Basic Requirements:* * 4+ years of Data Center experience. * Experience with both RedHat Linux and Windows (2000 and 2003) * Experience with the following hardware platform: * HP Proliant (all generations), firmware upgrades, Drivers, etc. * EMC Clariion storage Arrays * Experience with HP management products (iLO, Insight Manager) * Understanding of basic OS commands/utilities (I/O, job control, etc). * Understanding of RAID and filesystems technologies * Basic knowledge of TCP/IP and various Internet servers (DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, NNTP, SNMP, etc). * Ability to perform OS builds via automation (Jumpstart/kickstart/RIS). * Ability to write simple shell scripts. * Ability to troubleshoot hardware problems using diagnostics tools. * Ability to work independently and follow thru on all projects and assigned tasks * * *Desired Qualifications:* * Exposure to VMware virtua liz ation technologies. * Experience provisioning Juniper routers. * Experience provisioning Foundry devices. * Experience with Networker backup application.
