Alef Arendsen (SpringSource) had two things to say in defence
yesterday in Stockholm:
* You could use the maintenance branch to checkout bug fixes. You will
not get the blessed binary release, but if you cross reference Jira
and CVS (soon SVN) you could get the bug fixes you need for the major
version you use.
* They will speed up the releace cycle. The reason is not to help with
the three month time limit. They need to speed up the releases because
all the Spring projects are often blocked waiting for changes in
Spring core.
I don't see a lot of maintenance branches in CVS right now, just a lot
of tags. And they said that there will be no more tags. So I don't
know how valid these points are.
I agree SpringSource handled this bad. They are alienating there loyal
users.
