If you were targeting 1.6, then there is Collections.newSetFromMap(new IdentityHashMap<K,V>());.
Of course there should be an IdentityHashSet. a WeakIdentifyHashSet, a ConcurrentWeakIdentityHashSet, a LinkedConcurrentWeakIdentityHashSet and quite possibly a StarSet (with matching Maps, Lists, etc.).
