Hi, In Episode 215 there was a discussion about an ME app that would sent out GPS location/speed info which is then used to identify traffic jams etc. A suggestion was made that this information should not be provided by the ME app, but simply acquired from the Telco providers... well, such a solution is already in the works in The Netherlands. TomTom is working on a HD Traffic (HD = High Density) system and teamed up with a Telco provider to acquire the data. They then use this data while planning routes (TomTom devices can use this data...).
Great advantage compared to the 'traditional' traffic information is that it not only covers the highways, but also secondary roads. There is already a web site available that show the actual traffic information: http://www.tomtom.com/hdtraffic/ I think the devices that use this data are not out yet, but maybe someone from TomTom can provide a bit more info.
