I have Ubuntu Hardy (8.02) running 64 bit. Flash ( flashplugin-nonfree ) works on 64-bit Linux. I believe it requires 32-bit version of library to be installed but apt-get will automatically install it for you. ( It has dependency to ia32- libs ). However, I have to admit it has stability issue with firefox plug-in. I have to keep killall npviewer.bin and firefox in order to watch Ubuntu.
Sun does not provide Linux 64 applet support. So you have to install OpenJDK version in order to work. But I have not seen too many sites requiring applet support or webstart. If you are going to Ubuntu 64-bit, please get the latest JDK from Sun website directly. I find the latest (10) works the best especially when you are using compiz. There is a bug in older version of JDK so IntelliJ 7 and 8 do not work properly. Before u10 release, you had to download beta version but after the release of u10, I switch to official release.
