Many places waited until the last moment when Java 4 was finally 
End-Of-Life-ed.  Even then, they may choose to use the "-source 1.4" 
compilation flag to keep the crazy features out.

I'm not saying that it won't.  I'm just saying that if it does become 
popular in the enterprise, it will be because its proponents have found 
a simple message and had hit that message consistently for a sustained 
period of time.

Again, in very simple words, what is Scala?  And what will it do for me?

Let me give you another example: Ruby on Rails's message has been 
"Convention over configuration.  It increases your productivity."

What's Scala's?
