The JCP Executive Committees are gathering in Silicon Valley on Jan
13-14. On the evening of Jan 13, there will be a party to celebrate
the JCP's 10th Anniversary and local developers are invited to come
and meet the EC members as well as local JSR Expert Group members that
are expected to be in attendance that night. You can register for this
free PARTY here:

As I blogged about recently, I am a newbie to the JCP myself and my
sense is that the environment is ripe for real positive changes to
occur:

Another fellow JUG Leader (he is also an expert group member on JSRs
316/317/318) posted his thoughts on how to open up the JCP more. It is
a bit longer than mine, but, I like what he has to say:

Anyway, I know the current JSR process is not perfect. The good news
is that there seems to be consensus among the Executive Committee
members to do something about it. If you care passionately about Java
(as I know many of you on this list do) and you are not already
involved, this could be your opportunity to get engaged in the
process.

Cheers, Van
