LIstened while snow-blowing the driveway yesterday. A few little followups:
* Re: using your rejected JavaOne talk as an article: we're definitely interested in article proposals for java.net too (you mentioned only Artima, developer.com, and IBM). Only thing with us is that our articles need to somehow be related to the java.net community, which typically means being about a core Java platform (ME, SE, EE), NetBeans, JavaFX, or any of the projects hosted on the site. So, yeah, we're not the place for Apache-related articles (BTW, ask me about how much Axis2 article pitches suck sometime) or stuff about Spring. Still, with EE 6 and Java 7 contents firming up, finding forward- looking topics to write about should be a no-brainer, and would-be speakers/writers will make themselves more useful by finding these upcoming topics and establishing themselves as authorities on them. * Re: Debian 5.0's simple code name of "lenny"... have you not heard of Debian's naming scheme? Releases are named after characters from "Toy Story", which traces back to former Debian project leader Bruce Perens, an OSI co-founder who was working at Pixar when Debian was first being developed. So "lenny" is named after the toy binoculars, the next version is named "squeeze" for the 3-eyed alien toys (see: http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2008/09/msg00000.html ), and the unstable version is always called "sid", after the deranged, toy-breaking kid next door. --Chris --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
